Kitchen Staff (part-time: lead/prep/back-up positions available)


$10-15/hour – approximately 20-25 hours/week and 37 weeks per year.


  • Prep all foods for food service.
  • Create schedule for service nights in kitchen.
  • Lead crew of 2-3 part-time cooks.
  • Maintain sanitary environment.
  • Ensure self and staff compliance with current health codes.
  • Lead food service shifts and close at least twice per weekend.
  • Work solo on all nights serving less than 16 patrons.
  • Purchase additional ingredients needed after initial prep of foods for weekend services.
  • Promptly turn in all purchase receipts to theatre’s business manager
  • Reports directly to café manager. 

General schedule:

Prep foods for weekend Thursday late morning-afternoon.

Lead shift from beginning of service through intermission clean-up (about 4:30-9:30 Thursdays; 5-10 Friday and Saturday; 11:30-4:30 Sunday)*

*These times vary with length of play and number of audience to be served.  This position is not required to close each night unless the service numbers are light.  Otherwise, part-time cooks may finish shift as many as two of the four weekend nights per service week. 


At least one year work in professional kitchen environment; the ability to multi-task; a general appreciate or understanding of non-profit theatre world is a plus but not necessary.  This position is a vital part of this arts organization’s tradition of pre-show food service.  The ideal candidate is hard-working, enthusiastic, honest and a team-player.

Waitstaff (part-time)

This position offers an excellent, flexible way to make some good cash while working for a fun, local theatre company.

  • Have prior restaurant experience and/or be a quick learner.

  • Have a well-kept and groomed appearance. 
  • Enjoy good food and theatre. 
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and be able to work well with others under stress. 
  • Be punctual. 
  • Understand the importance of good service.

Ol’ Vic Café Gallery waiters work, as scheduled, before each Stage West Theatre performance.  Standard work hours are Thursdays 5:30pm-9:30pm; Fridays/Saturdays 6:00pm-10:00pm; Sundays 1:00pm-5:00pm.   Additional hours are also possible for special events.
