Evening/Weekend Box Office

This position is the gatekeeper between the organization and the public. Excellent interpersonal skills and an enjoyment of people are needed to properly execute this job.  Position reports directly to Box Office Manager.
This hourly, entry level position starts immediately.  Pay rate is commensurate with experience.
Areas of responsibility: Box office; Front of House
Experience: Prior box office experience is not required but helpful.  The ideal candidate will be good at math and basic accounting.  They will be patient, well-spoken and able to work under pressure.  The ability to work positively with the public is a key attribute for this position.  Knowledge of Patron Manager, a Salesforce based customer management program, is helpful but not required.  The ideal candidate will be energetic, friendly, honest and familiar with live theatre.
The Box Office is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • This position requires evening and weekend hours.  
  • Answer box office emails and field phone calls.
  • Coordination of all volunteer activities including ushering, opening night parties and help on special events, etc.
  • Front of House (manage opening of house, ushers, intermission, close of show)
  • Community request processing.
  • Calendar updates (work with Press and Information Manager)
  • Close out post-show banks  or manage box office hourly staff completion of task as scheduled.
  • Update Patron Manager on all areas related to ticketing – work with marketing on this task

Carpenter/ General Labor

Pay: $10-$12 BoE

Date looking to fill: Starting May 8th, 2017

Stage West is looking for Shop Foreman to work alongside the Technical Director. Qualified candidates will have a working knowledge of professional stage techniques and materials. Must be self-motivated, have excellent construction skills and attention to detail, perform safe working practices, and execute tasks efficiently and accurately both individually and as part of a team. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Ideal candidate has a degree in technical theatre and at least 2 years professional experience or equivalent.

Specifically the candidate may do any or all of the following:

• in accordance with standard safety procedures, lays-out, assembles and finishes scenic elements.

• weld and use metal working tools

• performs mathematical calculations in the construction of scenic elements

• reads and consults plans and blueprints

• follows through on tech director and designers requests on scenic elements

• cleans up the scene shop when required

• transports scenery to and from the shop and various theatres

• strike scenic elements at the end of the production run

• other duties as assigned

Schedule will vary based on the needs of the productions.

Position offers 30-35 hrs/wk.
General hours are 10 am-5pm Monday-Friday.
Evenings are generally free unless specifically noted.
Position is paid hourly.
