Education Manager

This competitive, salaried position fluctuates between 20-40 hours per week depending on the programming needs during the season.  March through early May and June through July will be closer to 40/week. The remainder of the year averages 20-25 hours/week. The education manager is responsible for all educational outreach programming.

Areas of Responsibility include:

Educational Outreach including all classes, camps and ancillary programming

for youths.


A background in theatre and education; good with young people; basic computer skills; good communication and time management skills; friendly disposition; honest; organized; positive attitude; willingness to try new things; team member.

Start Date:

Immediately. Our current Education Director is moving out of state and it would be ideal to have an overlap period for knowledge transfer.

List of Annual Responsibilities Include:

Work with local school districts to incorporate Neighborhood Play Contest into curriculum and conduct contest from start to finish.

Organize and staff Festival of the Kid and serve as Company Manager for program.

Manage weekly classes (overseeing teachers/ curriculum/ progress/ parents/ payments).

Cultivate relationships with the theatre teachers and librarians in town to extend reach of programming to maximum number of students.

Management and design of camp classes/conservatory and eventual oversight of programs.

Work with artistic staff to maximize choice of production material and design of artistic elements for each project.

Oversee strike of all props/costumes back to default after productions.

Conduct curtain speeches for all educational programs.

Provide Stage West’s grant writer with information on successes and needs within the education department.

Be creative! Find ways to grow education at Stage West.  Each member of the Stage West team is vital to the overall success of the whole organization.

Waitstaff (part-time)

This position offers an excellent, flexible way to make some good cash while working for a fun, local theatre company.


A good candidate will:

  • Have prior restaurant experience and/or be a quick learner. 
  • Be good at multi-tasking. 
  • Have a well-kept and groomed appearance. 
  • Enjoy good food and theatre. 
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and be able to work well with others under stress. 
  • Be punctual. 
  • Understand the importance of good service.

The Lobby Cafe waiters work, as scheduled, before each Stage West Theatre performance.  Standard work hours are Thursdays 5:30pm-9:30pm; Fridays/Saturdays 6:00pm-10:00pm; Sundays 1:00pm-5:00pm.   Additional hours are also possible for special events.
