Mazie Pannell

Mazie moved to Fort Worth with her husband Bill, and began studying oil painting with Emily Guthrie Smith, Dickson Reeder, and Jan Herring, later studying sculpting with Evelyn Sellers. She developed a small business decorating trunks and little girls' rooms, selling her line through stores such as Neiman-Marcus. In 1991, she began studying sculpting with Dana Kirk and doll-making with Loretta Hagar, selling her dolls through Lady Primrose, and then at international dolls shows, winning several awards. She has now returned to her first artistic love and is concentrating on oil painting. For the past several years, she has studied with Molly Dummit, and in 2008, she had private studies with Grigor Alexis and his son Laerte at Studio Sabka. She especially loves painting women, children, and still lifes, and the occasional landscape. Her favorite artists are Pino, Renoir, and John William Waterhouse. Her desire is to always bring glory to God, and her goal is to become as strong in her own painting as each of these renowned artists are in their own styles. Last year, Mazie was able to attend classes taught by Xiang Zhang, well-known Western artist and portraitist, whose works can be seen at Southwest Gallery in Dallas. Mazie's paintings may be seen at The Historic Camp Bowie Mercantile, Studio Sabka, and The Frame Up.
