Master Electrician

The Master Electrician (M.E.) is responsible for the electrics of all shows within our season, across three venues. Manage, maintain, and operate performance related electrics systems and equipment to ensure the timely and accurate realization of all lighting elements for Stage West Theatre’s theatrical playing spaces.

This position is a part-time, per-show contract with additional work potential. Compensation for this position is $500 per Stage West production and $25/hour for rentals.

The typical schedule for this role will vary based on the dynamic schedule of a theater.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of incandescent and LED technology and instruments.
  • Working knowledge of ETC Ion consoles.
  • Agility is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs.
  • Understanding of rigging systems.
  • ​Must be comfortable on ladders and heights over 15 feet.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the integrity of the lighting design throughout the performance period.
  • Implement lighting design for each new production.
  • Restoration to stock plot between productions.
  • Maintain and repair lighting unit inventory, dimmers, circuits, and gel stock.
  • Supervise overhires as needed.

EDUCATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 3-5 years experience as a working electrician.
  • Experience with computer light board program and operation.
  • Experience streaming ACN Data networks.
  • Basic working knowledge of QLab.
  • Basic understanding of AV equipment.
